The 2015 African Partners Outbreak Alliance (APORA) Meeting will bring together a number of African Partner Nation military participants, along with scientist and policy makers to work together in response to the threat of dangerous emerging and remerging pathogens in Africa. As demonstrated by the recent Ebola outbreak, the significant lack of comprehensive outbreak response plans ultimately contributed to the widespread of the disease. This Alliance serves as a collaborative forum for identifying and discussing critical gaps and opportunities to create stability for handling future outbreaks.. This meeting will discuss the following identified outbreak response pillars: early detection, early and efficient response, and recovery. Additionally, this alliance aims to accomplish the following objectives: advocate among national, regional, and international health and security organizations regarding the importance of the role of the military in outbreak response, promote effective military-civilian partnerships in the health and security communicates, and encourage regional and national program coordination and development by providing financial assistance to regional and national programs for military services.
