As a division of the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Center, GEIS strives to promote Global Health Security and Force Health Protection through support of civil-military efforts to prevent outbreaks, epidemics, and emergence of novel infectious disease threats. Our vision and mission statements read as follows:
GEIS Vision: Enhanced national security and force health protection through a global network poised to prevent, detect, and respond to emerging microbial threats.
GEIS Mission: To enhance force health protection and global health security by focused coordination and support of global civil and military health networks to prevent, detect, and respond to emerging and priority microbial threats through infectious diseases surveillance, laboratory harmonization, capacity building, and scientific research.
